Register now for the 2014-15 Hockey Season!

July 2014

Dear Royal Oak Hockey Family,

We hope that you are enjoying a great summer! While it might not be top of mind quite yet, hockey season is right around the corner and we have some exciting news to share with you about youth hockey in Royal Oak starting this season!

As a member of the Royal Oak Hockey Association you already know the program is one of the oldest and most storied youth hockey associations in the state with a wealth of history and tradition. There are truly thousands of families who have had great experiences and treasured memories of playing hockey in Royal Oak as part of the Royal Oak Hockey Association.

Over time - with increasingly busy family and work schedules for volunteers and the ever increasing demands of time required to manage a youth hockey program in a very competitive metro area marketplace - it has been determined that the best plan for the future growth of youth hockey in Royal Oak is to have the program managed by the staff of the Royal Oak Ice Arena. The ice arena is managed for the city by Suburban Sports Group, a company that has years and years of experience in operating hockey programs for youth and adult players at some of the most successful ice facilities in the country. This transition will lessen the time commitment and burden of many dedicated people who have tirelessly volunteered their efforts to ROHA throughout the years. The Royal Oak hockey program will remain committed to a spirit of volunteerism as the time and energy of volunteer coaches, managers and supporters will be integral to the success of the Royal Oak youth hockey program.

While maintaining much of the same philosophy and framework that has made Royal Oak hockey such a great place to play over the years and adding the expertise and resources of a dedicated arena staff, we are excited for the new hockey season and thrilled to offer you a program that will exceed all expectations. The Lil Eagle program will continue to be a great place for young players to get started in the game, the house program will continue to serve as an affordable and convenient, fun yet competitive hockey experience for players and the Eagles travel program will provide an option for those players wishing to compete at a higher level. All of these elements are critical components of a vibrant and successful youth hockey program with a mission of providing a great experience for every player at whatever level they choose to participate.

Registration is now open! The earlier that players register, the sooner and better we can finalize plans for the season. For more information and to register, click on the graphics above or call the ice arena at (248) 246-3950. We look forward to another great season of Royal Oak hockey!
