UPDATE ON ICE ARENA REPAIRS AND REOPENING

Progress is being made on repairs at John Lindell Ice Arena. Repairs to the dehumidifier and floor heave on the west rink have been completed. However, there is still work needed before the arena can reopen. When a reopening date is established, it will be shared on this page.

While contractors were working on the dehumidifier, white staining was noticed on some of the wooden ceiling beams in the east rink. After testing by multiple third-party providers, the staining was determined to be common types of mold and microbial growth that are typically found in outdoor environments. Prior to reopening, a full professional remediation will be performed at the arena.

After the remediation is completed, arena management and staff will complete the installation of ice surface on the west rink and perform ice maintenance on the east rink.

There was a pre-planned closure scheduled for Labor Day weekend, Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7, due to Arts, Beats & Eats parking impacts. During this closure city staff and contractors are working quickly and thoroughly to complete work at the arena.

A reopening date will be shared as soon as possible. In the meantime, arena management will continue to communicate directly with user groups and assist with locating ice time at other facilities whenever possible.

Thank you for your patience as we take these important steps to reopen John Lindell Ice Arena. We look forward to welcoming you back to the ice soon.
