WELCOME TO THE ROYAL OAK HOCKEY CLUB!
Our mission in all programs at John Lindell-Royal Oak Ice Arena is to ensure that every player is playing at the proper competitive level so that he/she can truly enjoy playing the game, while developing age-appropriate skills and knowledge of the sport. With this in mind we have designed an 8 and Under program that incorporates age and skill progression in a competitive and challenging environment under the direction of trained professional John Lindell-Royal Oak Staff. Please review the different levels below and feel free to contact us with questions.

LEARN TO PLAY
LEVEL 1: Lil Eagles - Ages 4-8
September 12 - March 20
FALL/WINTER SESSION
No Skates on Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 14, Nov. 28, Nov. 26, Dec. 24, Dec. 26,
Dec. 31, Jan. 16, Feb. 6.

Recommended as a first step for beginning hockey players who completed a Learn to Skate class and have a solid base of fundamental skating skills.

​One 1-hour skate each week on Saturdays. ​

​Emphasis on creating a fun, challenging environment for players to learn the basic principles of skating and stickhandling through station based drills and skill building games

Players will be grouped by skill level

LEVEL 2: Mini Mites - Ages 5-6

Program serves as an introduction to "team" play with practice sessions and small-ice games.

Consistent Monday and Saturday skates

Program runs September through March

Introduction to team play with skill building practices on Mondays and cross-ice games on Saturdays

Teams are drafted at the end of training camp, by Royal Oak Hockey Club personnel.

Each player will have the opportunity to play as a goaltender utilizing USA Hockey Quick-change Goalie Equipment

We strongly believe that keeping the players active and moving on the ice, having fun, and building confidence is essential.

Games will be cross-ice which is played width-wise in the end zones of the rink.

Opportunities for jamborees and to play in an outdoor tournament at The Rink in downtown Royal Oak

Teams are drafted at the conclusion of training camp, by coaches with the assistance of Royal Oak Hockey Club director.

Players will rotate as goaltender and will use the quick-change goalie equipment provided

Teams will have the opportunity to play in local jamborees and 8U Mite Cup State Playoffs
